Members of the Smithsonian Academy Orchestra on stage

Founded in 2024 by conductor Kenneth Slowik, the Smithsonian Academy Orchestra is a resident ensemble of the Smithsonian Chamber Music Society, a program of the National Museum of American History. The Orchestra’s repertoire ranges from Bach to Schoenberg, all performed on period-appropriate instruments. Hear them perform Haydn’s Symphony No. 95 and Beethoven’s Symphony No.3, the Eroica, on tour through Massachusetts, New York, Philadelphia, Virginia, and Washington DC! SAO concerts are free and open to the public due to the generous support of The Honorable John F. W. Rogers and Goldman Sachs.
